Gasohol and Diesohol Production

In gasohol production, water is extracted from 95%
ethyl-alcohol to produce 99.5% ethyl-alcohol. 99.5%
ethyl-alcohol can then be mixed with gasoline (benzene
fuel) at a 1:9 ratio to produce gasohol. For gasohol 95
production, 91-octane gasoline or benzene 91 is used
while for gasohol 91 production, 87-octane gasoline or
benzene 87 is used.

To produce diesohol, diesel fuel is mixed with 95% ethyl-alcohol and an
emulsifier (to aid the blending process) at a ratio of 85:14: 1. Test results
indicated that diesohol can be used in vehicles with diesel engines.
