Mushroom Culture Plant

To maximise the uses of byproducts from agricultural
activities, there were experiments on mushroom
cultivation. Originally, experiments were conducted on
the culture of local mushrooms. Later on, there are
studies on culturing of Ling Zhi mushroom as well as
processing of various types of Ling Zhi mushroom
products.

Rice bran, a byproduct from the rice mill, is mixed with sawdust from
para-rubber wood and some chemical substrates to produce a mushroom
food bag.

To begin the culture, a piece of tissue of the mushroom is taken and
grown under sterilised conditions. The mycelium is then transferred to be
cultured in sterilised millet seeds. Once the mycelium covers all the seeds,
it will be moved to culture in the mushroom food bag and left in the chamber which is humidity and temperature controlled until it can be harvested.

Ling Zhi mushroom can be processed into many kinds of products, for instance, sliced dried Ling Zhi mushroom that can be boiled with water in making tea and Ling Zhi extracted powder in capsules. In addition, Ling Zhi powder can be mixed with sugar or fruit juices to produce Ling Zhi tablets.
