New year's Day

The first of January is officially recognized as New Year’s Day replacing the 13th of April , a practice since King Rama 5 until the 1st of January B.E. 2483. The adoption of the 1st of January as New Year’s Day is in line with international convention.

Children's day

The second Saturday of the month of January of each year has been declared Children’s Day . Formerly Children’s Day was the first Monday of October. The change has been in use since B.E. 2506

Teacher's day .

Teacher’s Day falls on the 16th of January of each year. Teacher’s Day besides being an occasion to reiterate the importance of teachers in society is a day of remembrance for departed teachers.

King Naraesuan the Great's Day

The 25 th of January of each year is a memorial day for one of the greatest Thai Kings. King Naresuan subdued the princely chief of the Burmese Army in an elephant combat.
