“Prik Thai “, known to the northern people as Prik Noi ” is a spice with characteristic spicy hot taste and aroma. Its ground berries are used as an antidote for stomach wind, and other stomach disorders. Mixed with food, young or mature berries “Prik Thai ” increases appetite .

Young berries serve as seasoning ingredient as they give out mild aroma and hot spicy taste, and are rich in minerals suchas calcium, phosporus and beta carotine.

Ta Krai

“Ta Krai ” is grown as a kitchen vegetable in almost every Thai houshold in olden days.

With its tardy and characteristicly aromatic taste., Ta Krai is used to strenthen body’s homeostasis , to cure unrinal disorder , gaseous stomach , to increase appetite and so on. The leaves and trunk of Ta Krai contain essetial oil which is curing agents for gaseous sstomach, indigestion and mild bacterialticide .

The regular use of Ta Krai is a seasoning food ingrdient in dishes such as Tom Yam, fish cake, chilli dip and also as Ta Krai tea.

Kha

As an indigenous plant of tropical Asia, Kha is grown in a kitchen plant in a kitchen garden for uses as a food ingrdient as well as a herbal medicine. The part of Kha used is its rootstock or rhisome that yields essential oils such as eugenol, cenilo camphaur etc. These oils are antidotes for stomach pain, stomach disorder, and are rubbed to bruised muscle. Slices of Kha rootstock in rice wine give a soultion that cures liver spots.

Its berries are taken as a cure for nauseation, loose stomach and even malaria.
