Agriculture has
been the basic foundation of mans
livelihood over millenniums , and men of each
epoch has contributed their share of
technological development to advance the
production capabilities of agriculture to meet
the demand of the population.
However, science and technology which
man has called upon to increase the efficiency of agriculture has
inflicted extensive damages to his environment and render his attempt
counter-productive. This is due to the fact that agriculture is
the activity that requires not only mans industriousness and
knowledge but also involve the most important parameter which man
can no longer afford to ignore- i.e. natural equilibrium.
The more man
destroys the natural equilibrium, the less his
productivity.
Against this
conceptual background, traditional agriculture or
agariculture based on traditional wisdom deserves
to be considered as an alternative to modern
agriculture.
